Best lease deals of the week: Luxury saloons
These red carpet-worthy wafters offer class, speed, refinement and comfort in equal measure
Leasing can be an affordable, practical route into having your own private car, but it's not always easy to tell the good deals from the duds.
The experts at our sister magazine What Car? work hard to find you the best pay-monthly schemes, taking into account mileage allowance, montly outlay, contract length and initial deposit. We'll be bringing you the best deals they find from a different segment each week.
This week, it's luxury saloons:
1. Mercedes-Benz S350D AMG Line
£696 per month, £4174 deposit, 48 months, 10,000 miles per year
Not as seductive as a Jaguar XJ but otherwise the S-Class is just about the champion in this class. It does exactly the job it was created to do, and in our book, praise doesn’t come much higher.
2. Audi A8 50 TDI Quattro S Line Tip
£686 per month, £4118 deposit, 48 months, 8000 miles per year
Performance, comfort and serenity meet superlative build quality and a practical, well-equipped interior. By the slenderest of margins it is just eclipsed by the Merc S-Class, whether you’re driving it or being driven in it.
3. Jaguar XJ 3.0D V6 Premium Luxury
£634 per month, £3806 deposit, 48 months, 8000 miles per year
An A8 bests it on build quality but in all other respects the XJ has nothing to fear from its German rivals. Unlike them it oozes charm while offering an up-to-date and sophisticated driving experience.
4. BMW 730d Exclusive
£633 per month, £3798 deposit, 48 months, 8000 miles per year
The driver’s choice offers outstanding performance and handling. It’s got impressive in-car tech, too, and is superbly built. If only it felt a little more special, it might be a more convincing luxury car.
5. Range Rover 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography
£1398 per month, £8390 deposit, 48 months, 8000 miles per year
An exceptional vehicle. The Range Rover is the most all-round capable car in the world: luxury conveyance one moment and mountain-climbing SUV the next. It’s even passably economical in this SDV8 form.
6. Mercedes-Benz GLS 350D 4Matic AMG Line
£878 per month, £5269 deposit, 48 months, 10,000 miles per year
Mercedes calls this the S-class of SUVs. Its spacious interior certainly has the measure of that saloon, and thanks to its air suspension it rides superbly. If you crave more performance, try the AMG GLS 63.
