New Giugiaro Sibylla concept uses front canopy and rear gullwing doors Italdesign founder Giorgetto Giugiaro will display a retro four-door concept at Geneva

A new concept called the Giugiaro Sibylla has been designed with a front canopy and rear gullwing doors as a nod to iconic models from the past.

Due on show at the Geneva motor show in March, the unconventional four-door has been penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the founder of Italdesign, and his son Fabrizio at their new design house, GFG Style.

The car’s styling takes clear influence from models of the 1960s and 1970s. The forward-hinged front canopy is a direct nod to the Chevrolet Testudo, which Giugiaro designed back in 1963.

The Sibylla, which is longer than a Mercedes-Benz E-Class, is powered by an electric powertrain of four motors. Technology from Envision, a Chinese energy management company, helps the car more efficiently use its power and enables contribution to the electric grid.

GFG Style's new concept is its second to be shown in public. It first was the Techrules Ren, another electric vehicle with a front-hinged canopy that was recently previewed in track-focused RS form.

Giugiaro and his son sold their share in Italdesign to Audi in 2015. The iconic design house will show a Zerouno convertible at the Geneva motor show with an Audi R8-sourced V10 engine.
