If the Renault Zoe e-sport is anything to go by, the future of touring car racing is safe.

The car, a bonkers 456bhp skunkworks project produced by Renault and French engineering firm Tork, uses Formula E electric technology and a chassis fit for a racing car. The results this setup produces are truly, erm, electric.

Ok, so there’s no screaming oil burner under the bonnet and it doesn’t have a gearbox, but the exhilarating pace of the twin-motor setup and tyre-shredding torque they produce means this is no less of a challenge for the driver.
